To say I was excited to attend my first AICI (Association of Image Consultants International) Conference, was an understatement.  I knew it was going to be a great investment and experience…it surpassed my expectations in every way possible.

The conference was held in sunny and warm Glendale, Arizona, a short ride from the Phoenix airport.  The temps were in the 100’s when I arrived, and that warm dry heat felt fabulous.   Taking full advantage of my time, I had signed up for three workshops on top of the sessions that were offered during the conference.  Two of the workshops started on Thursday, each being 4-hours in length and packed full of content.  The last workshop was held Saturday evening.  The conference itself began on Friday, with a general session followed by an exhilarating 2-hr session.  The following two days I attended 4 more 2-hour sessions, an Annual Membership Meeting, Exhibitor reception, meeting with my Chicago Chapter, and leadership training.  No downtime for this one, but I knew what I had signed up for and wanted to maximize my time.

Day 1 of Workshops: The first two lovely women I met – Pam and Lynne

I literally could write a book with the amount of notes I took during every session, not to mention the conversations and idea sharing sessions I had with my colleagues.  Those were priceless moments that I will forever treasure.   I am a list person and a planner – no shocker to those of you who know me well.  My head was spinning full of ideas.  Ideas that I had planned out far before I stated my entrepreneurial journey and one’s that I walked into this experience  knowing I wanted to implement.  My list of take away’s included 100+ items.  On my plane ride back home, I narrowed my focus to 10 items.  Stay tuned!

When I reflect back on my time at the conference, I am left feeling so inspired.  Inspired by every juicy bit of information that I gained, inspired by the amazing and brilliant women (and a few men) that I met from around the world, and the friendships that I formed.   This my friends, was an excellent investment for Closet Essentials and myself!
